Deakin University

Margaret Bearman is a Research Professor within the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE), Deakin University, with qualifications in both computer science and education. Margaret has researched higher and professional education for over two decades. She is known for her work into assessment practices, feedback in healthcare, and university education in digital world. She co-led the construction of national principles guiding Australian university assessment reform for a time of artificial intelligence. Margaret has a deep interest in how theory embeds into practice.

Professor Sally Everett is Professor of Business Education and was Vice Dean (Education) at King’s Business School, King’s College London (2019 – 2025). Sally was the Academic Lead for Inclusive Education for King’s College London (2019-2023) and established the business school’s gender network (Women@KBS). Sally is a National Teaching Fellow (2017), Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2013), Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence award holder (team lead, 2016) and is the Equality Officer for the Association of National Teaching Fellows. Sally was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Chartered Association of Business School’s (CABS) in 2025 and is a member of their Race Equality Working Group , Equality and Diversity Committee, and facilitates and leads their ‘Leaders in Learning and Teaching Programme’. Sally has held numerous leadership roles at several universities including interim/acting dean, deputy dean, and Head of Department (Marketing, Tourism and Events). Sally has also widely published on inclusive education, diversity, events and tourism – having just published “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Business Management” (edited, 2025) and a monograph ‘Decolonising Tourism Education’ (due, 2026).

Professor Peter Bryant
Peter is an experienced academic with over twenty-five years teaching and research experience in both the UK and Australia, in the areas of higher education strategy, learning technologies and creative industries management.
Peter is a Trustee of the Association for Learning Technology, which supports the professional and policy development of staff using educational technology. He is an experienced researcher, speaker and advocate specialising in pedagogical change, social media in education, the practices of making, and engagement in education and the creative industries. He co-leads the international Future Happens initiative, which uses innovative approaches to problem-solving and change management to engage the wider higher education sector in debates and research-informed conversations around technology, pedagogy and the future of the modern University. He is the Chair of the editorial Board for the peer reviewed open access journal Reserach in Learning Technology.

Professor Angela Knox
Angela Knox is a Professor of Work and Organisation and Academic Director of Professional Development. She is an internationally recognized expert in job quality, precarious work, skills and migration. Angie has published widely and her work has appeared in Gender, Work and Organisation, Human Relations, Human Resource Management Journal, Industrial Relations, International Journal of Human Resource Management and Work, Employment and Society. She has also co-edited a book, Job Quality in Australia. She is an Editor of Work, Employment and Society and Editorial Board member of Human Relations. Angie has received in excess of ten teaching awards, including the inaugural Dean's Award for Teaching and she is a Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy/ AdvanceHE. She is also an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Warwick, UK.
Leisa Sargent
Professor Leisa Sargent
Leisa Sargent is Dean of the Business School at the University of Sydney since December 2022. Leisa studied at the University of Toronto and obtained her PhD from the Rotman School of Management. Prior to her appointment at the University of Sydney, Leisa held the position of Senior Deputy Dean at The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Business School (2016-2022). She also held positions as Co-DVC Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (2019-2022), Professor Head of School Management and Marketing, The University of Melbourne (2012-2016) and held several academic program director and University committee roles at the University of Melbourne (2003-2011), Cornell University (2002), and Queensland University of Technology (1991-2001). She has conducted numerous Faculty and academic program reviews and has served on several advisory and governance boards of Australian University bodies, as chair or as a member, including the Centre for Social Impact and UNSW Global. Her research impact roles include expert witness, Senate inquiries, and Government advising. Leisa's research has been published in the leading international journals, including Personnel Psychology, Organization Science, Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Learning and Education, Journal of Management Education,Journal of Human Resources Management, Journal of Organisational Behavior,Journal of Vocational Behaviour, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Work and Stress, Small Group Research and British Journal of Industrial Relations. She has held editorial board memberships including the Journal of Management Studies and Human Relations. Leisa has consulted to large complex organisations both in Australia and North America, including companies such as Nortel, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Telstra, Incitec, Canada Life, Comcare, Arnott's, and the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. A nationally awarded educator, Leisa was named the Pearson Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management innovative educator of the year. Leisa's current research spans an evidence-based approach to leadership development, new perspectives on retirement, workday design, restorative experiences, and green infrastructure. Her research has been competitively funded through the Australian Research Council grants, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, The Australian Learning and Teaching Council, The Academy of Management and Hort Innovation Australia.

Malmi Amadoru
Malmi Amadoru
Malmi Amadoru is a Lecturer at the University of Sydney Business School. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of emerging digital technologies and data visualisation. Her research centres on digital innovation, particularly the adoption and diffusion of emerging technologies through a discursive lens. This includes examining the discursive influence of social bots in facilitating the spread of new technologies. She also explores how these emerging technologies contribute to broader processes of digital transformation. Methodologically, she is well-versed in combining computational methods with qualitative methods to draw insights and develop theory. In 2022, she won the second runner-up of the ACM SIGMIS Doctoral Dissertation Award and the ACPHIS PhD Medal, which is awarded annually to the best Australian PhD dissertation in the Information Systems discipline. Her research has been published in leading journals such as the Information Systems Journal and prestigious conferences, including ICIS and AOM.

Ali's research interests span several critical areas within information systems, focusing on their social and organisational impacts. His research interest includes digital work, the strategic impact of emerging technologies, technology governance, openness, digital innovation, and strategy. Currently, his teaching focuses on the practical applications of information systems and disruptive technologies, such as blockchain, cybersecurity, and business processes.

Lorna Andriamora
Lorna Andriamora is a Lecturer in Counselling at ACAP University College. She holds a Diploma and a Bachelor of Counselling from ACAP and a Master of Criminology from the University of Sydney. She is currently completing a doctorate at the University of Southern Queensland, focusing on developing an evidence-based Art Therapy model for children of incarcerated Indigenous parents. Lorna has worked as a counsellor at the Emerging Community Resource Centre and founded Eagle House, a not-for-profit supporting children with incarcerated parents in Mauritius. She is passionate about fostering critical thinking and encouraging students to explore and question counselling theories.

Dr Lova Andriamora is an education-focused Associate Lecturer in Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney Business School. He joined the University of Sydney in 2016 and has taught various units across disciplines before coordinating BUSS5221 (Creative and Analytic Mindset) and WORK6130 (Leadership in Organisations). Lova holds a doctorate degree from Central Queensland University, along with postgraduate qualifications in business, human services management, and tertiary education. His interests include academic integrity—particularly contract cheating and AI—as well as the challenges international students face in adapting to research-based learning. He published Loholona Mpiandry, a leadership book in Malagasy.

Abe is an accomplished industry practitioner with over 40 years of experience in consulting, designing and delivering business and technology solutions at ASX100 and Fortune100 institutions around the world. He has over 10 years of experience in lecturing, tutoring and designing courses in business transformation and complex problem solving at the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales. The work that constantly exposed him to the root causes underlying the many challenges facing society is what drives him to advocate the need for real change in how we educate our future citizens and leaders.

Dr Paul Blayney is a teaching focused academic in the Discipline of Accounting, Governance & Regulation in the Business School. His research interests are in education and applying various aspects of cognitive load theory (the basis of his PhD thesis). Paul’s teaching interests are in management accounting and data analytics for accounting. He is an accomplished Excel expert/nerd.

Prior to joining academia Janine worked as an auditor in a big four accounting firm and for several leading Australian and Global organisations including those in the Telecommunications, Television, Oil & Gas and Banking industries. Janine is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA) and an award-winning educator; she is the recipient of the Wayne Lonergan Outstanding Teaching Award, Dean’s Award for Teaching, Toolbox & Innovator Award and the Academic Enhancement of Student Life Award in recognition of her dedication to supporting and enhancing the student learning experience.

Dr Mark Freeman is a Senior Lecturer (education-focused) in the discipline of Business Information Systems and the Dalyell Program Director at the University of Sydney Business School. Mark is acknowledged as an outstanding educational innovator who utilises creative pedagogical approaches and modern technologies to enhance students’ learning experiences. His current research interests include Information Systems Education and understanding the impacts of Information Systems on human behaviour across different subsections of the population, including children, medical patients, and volunteers, from various perspectives, as well as their broader implications, including cybersecurity phenomena.

He is a multi-award-winning educator, faculty advisor to champion CFA and Beta Alpha Psi teams, and led USYD’s MCom Finance to CFA affiliation. He has received numerous teaching awards and grants.
Daniel Gozman
Daniel Gozman
Dr. Daniel Gozman is an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney Business School, where he leads research and teaching in digital transformation, financial technology (FinTech), and AI governance. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Daniel’s work bridges academia and industry, with collaborations involving global institutions such as SWIFT. His research has been published in top-tier journals and cited in policy reports across Europe, Africa, and Asia. He has supervised multiple PhD students and received awards for both research excellence and innovative teaching. Beyond the classroom, Daniel contributes to shaping digital policy and international standards through roles held with the British Standards Institute and Standards Australia. He has held editorial positions at Journal of Information Technology, Information Systems Journal, European Journal of Information Systems and MISQ Executive. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Freeman of the City of London. Prior to academia Daniel worked as a management consultant.

Hans Hendrischke is a professor of Chinese business and management at the University of Sydney Business School and the executive director of the University of Sydney Centre in China. A member of the China Studies Centre, he is fluent in Chinese and has lived and worked in China. His main research interests are Chinese entrepreneurship and the globalisation of Chinese enterprises. He has co-led KPMG's annual Demystifying Chinese Investment in Australia reports since 2011 and frequently comments on Australia-China business relations in national and international media.

Dr Eva Huang is an expert on Regtech and Comparative Taxation in the Digital Economy. Her research focuses on building the compliance or regulatory business case in the design of compliance risk mitigating digital artefacts, especially regarding risks associated with taxation and financial crimes. Eva is an active and experienced research supervisor, she mentors and collaborates with her research students. Her supervision and mentoring resulted in a PhD internship grant, -- APR Intern Project: Toyota/USyd (Xi Nan) INT-0935 (Academic Mentor). Eva is the founding and current joint editor of the Journal of Chinese Tax and Policy, the first English language journal with an exclusive focus on taxation policies and laws in China. She is also the convener of the International Conference of Chinese Tax and Policy which is the annual conference of the Journal.

Dr Kaiying Ji is a lecturer in the Discipline of Accounting, Governance & Regulation at the University of Sydney Business School. She is a member of CPA Australia and CFA institute. Kaiying has taught in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate curriculum, in the areas of Accounting, Business and Work-integrated Learning. Sunghoon Kim is an Associate Professor in the Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney Business School. Sunghoon is an established scholar in the field of strategic human resource management, specialising in the role of technology in HRM. He has served as the academic director of MHRM/IR programs at the USBS, and an editor of leading international journals including Human Resource Management (FT50) and Asia Pacific Journal of Management. He co-authored Routledge Handbook of Human Resource Management in Asia and contributed to the Google funded APRU project entitled “Transformation of Work in Asia-Pacific in the 21st Century”.

Dr Benjamin Lay is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Accounting, Governance and Regulation. Ben has taught and helped develop multiple financial accounting units of study. His work in developing teaching approaches to help develop students’ skills and career readiness was recognised in 2023, receiving the University of Sydney Business School Toolbox and Innovators Award and the University of Sydney Educational Innovation Award. His teaching has also been recognised with the University of Sydney FFT Award for Teaching in 2022 and 2023 and the 2023 Toolbox & Innovator Award. Ben’s research interests include innovation in accounting education and corporate governance.

Dr. Henry Leung worked as a senior manager at BT Financial Group, Deutsche Bank and Commonwealth Securities before joining the University. He draws from this experience to bring a practical dimension to the undergraduate and postgraduate large class finance units he coordinates. He has led innovative teaching initiatives such as the development of the Entrepreneurial Finance (EF) and Open Learning Environment Bootstrap EF units. He has been awarded the Dean’s Citation for Teaching Excellence Award. Henry has published in top-tier finance journals such as Management Science, Review of Finance, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Financial Intermediation. His most recent accolade includes the Business School Research Excellence Award. Henry is a board director of the Asian Finance Association. He has served on the University’s Faculty Board and PhD defence committees and continued to engage with industry partners through the External Partners Advisory Board to ensure that our curriculum offerings remain relevant and forward-looking.

Dr. Yuan (Echo) Liao is a Senior Lecturer at The University of Auckland. Echo's research interests focus on diversity management, cultural intelligence, and multiculturalism. Her work aims to understand how to create inclusive work environments and enhance collaboration in multicultural workplaces. Her academic contributions have been published in top-tier international journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review, and Journal of Business Ethics, among others. With substantial experience in teaching Leadership and Cross-Cultural Management, Echo utilises a variety of techniques, such as case studies, simulations, and experiential activities, for undergraduate, postgraduate, and MBA students.

Her research in corporate finance, regulation, and banking has been published in top journals like the Journal of Financial Stability. She is the recipient of prestigious awards, including the Spencer Martin Best Paper Award at the National PhD Consortium (FIRN) in Australia.

May is an experienced tutor/organisational theatre researcher and practitioner in the University of Sydney Business School, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate units in Work and Organisational Studies. She has received the Dean’s Award for FFT and multiple Dean’s citations for tutoring. She holds a Master of HR&IR and recently completed a Master of Education. Her thesis examined Chinese international students’ experiences of Western education to better understand their preparedness for Western culture and T&L and ways to improve their experience and outcomes. A graduate of Toi Whakaari, New Zealand’s National Drama School, May also brings innovation to teaching through Organisational Theatre as an experiential learning tool.

Jeff is a Sessional Lecturer and Workshop Facilitator in the Discipline of Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney Business School, teaching in information systems, business process management, and digital innovation since 2019. He also works as the Manager in IT Product and Service Management at the University of Sydney, where he finds inspiration bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world application in his teaching. This dual perspective allows him to bring contemporary IT industry practices and insights directly into the classroom. He is also an alumni of the Business School.

Louise is a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting, Governance and Regulation Discipline and is a financial reporting specialist. Previously Louise worked in professional accounting and commercial roles including an accounting technical manager in the banking industry. Louise is a Fellow of Advance HE, a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and has co-authored several corporate reporting textbooks and publications for CA ANZ. In recognition of Louise's interest in developing resources to enhance student readiness for the business world, Louise was the recipient of a 2021 Dean's award for FFT, a 2020 Dean's Award for Teaching and the 2023 Toolbox & Innovator Award.

Advaith Madhav is a final-year Finance and Business Analytics student at the University of Sydney. Alongside his academic work, he has developed AI agents professionally for industry use cases, designing tools that automate workflows and deliver actionable insights for decision-making. Advaith has collaborated with educators in the Sydney Business School to create resources on integrating Generative AI in assessment design, supporting staff to adapt pedagogy in a rapidly changing environment. He also works with the University of Sydney at large to shape and deliver resources on Generative AI for use by students.

Dr Jolene Morse is an enterprise risk executive, educator, and board director with over 20 years’ experience spanning financial services, consulting, and the public sector. A former Director at EY and banking executive, she holds a Doctorate in Enterprise Risk Management and lectures in governance, finance, and organisational behaviour. Jolene’s work integrates neuroscience, and risk theory to reimagine how organisations and students engage with complexity. She serves on multiple boards and academic committees, is published in risk and governance, and is passionate about building resilience, ethical practice, and future-ready capability in both business and education.

Dr. Vijaya Murthy’s research and teaching interests in the Discipline of Accounting, Governance & Regulation, University of Sydney Business School include management accounting, management control, sustainability management accounting, corporate social reporting, accounting history and intellectual capital. Her doctoral thesis examined the manner in which managers mobilized non-financial information to make decisions. Vijaya has lectured on undergraduate and post graduate accounting units in topics related to management accounting, financial accounting and designing accounting systems. She has worked on various Management Accounting projects with senior colleagues at Sydney University, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck.

Radka is an internationally recognised academic leader in management education, curriculum transformation, and inclusive pedagogy. She currently holds the Personal Chair in Management Education and Innovation at Lancaster University Management School and serves as Director of the Centre for Scholarship and Innovation in Management Education. Throughout her career, she has been committed to creating student-centred, research-informed educational practices that foster transformational student experiences. Radka champions a human-centred design approach to education, combining her expertise in process improvement with a deep commitment to student-centric learning. She developed the Inclusive Programme Review method, a widely adopted model that embeds student voice into curriculum development and drives continuous enhancement of teaching and learning. A major milestone in her career is her role as chief editor of Transforming Higher Education With Human-Centred Design, an international anthology showcasing how design thinking can reimagine higher education for a more inclusive and responsive future.

Linh Nguyen is a Lecturer with the UNSW Centre for Social Impact and an Honorary Associate at the University of Sydney Business School. Linh’s research and educational endeavours are driven by an aspiration to catalyse positive societal impact and meaningful changes. Linh has researched and worked for over a decade with social impact businesses in Australia, Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia. Additionally, Linh has engaged in various initiatives that aimed at enhancing the social and economic participation of disadvantaged populations including people with disabilities, women and young people in the region.

John is a lecturer in Marketing at the University of Sydney Business School. He is an active researcher with a particular focus on exploring how ideation templates and techniques enhance creativity in marketing communications, new product development, and management strategy. He is also interested in the utopian and dystopian utility of augmented reality (AI) in both management and education settings. His research has been published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Advertising, and the Journal of Advertising Research.

Julian is a Lecturer of Business Information Systems at The University of Sydney. His research interests lie at the intersection of technology, work and organisations, focusing on various forms of Digital Work. Using ethnographic and in-depth qualitative field research methods he explores digital work phenomena such as Digital Nomadism and Platform Work. His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Decision Support Systems and Information & Management as well as the proceedings of leading IS conferences. Julian teaches courses on data visualisation, business intelligence, and data management, and is innovating with AI-enabled teaching methods to enhance student learning experiences.

Corina is a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Systems specialising in educational innovation and creative thinking. Her work focuses on designing experiential interdisciplinary learning and sustainable online learning environments including high quality assessment. Corina also brings expertise in qualitative and interdisciplinary research, particularly co-design approaches for addressing and evaluating complex problem solving. For her significant contributions and dedication to student learning experiences, Corina received the AAUT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, the Wayne Lonergan Award for Outstanding Teaching, and the Vice Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Educational Engagement and Innovation.

He brings a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching, particularly given his experience in financial markets. Mark teaches across financial and management accounting undergraduate units, and has research interests in how professional skills are incorporated in learning and assessment. He has a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Education and is a Chartered Accountant.
